Harry Potter LEGO Sets - Make Your Own Magic
83Harry Potter Lego Sets
The most famous children's book series leaps to real life in popular LEGO building block sets based on the renowned work of author J.K. Rowling. You must be a muggle if you don't know what I am talking about... why, its Harry Potter! The most amazing boy wizard ever to face "You Know Who," and the star of seven fast-paced books and 8 blockbuster Hollywood movies.
LEGOs originated in Denmark, in the 1930s as wooden, interlocking blocks. About 20 years later, the toys were primarily manufactured out of durable plastic, and were rapidly rising in popularity. Just 10 years later, in 1967, the LEGO logo was recognizable world-wide. Parents and children alike loved these unbreakable bricks of varying sizes, shapes and bright primary colors.
Eventually, doors, windows, wheels and LEGO people were added to the mix. Creativity soared! All of these pieces could be snapped onto the basic blocks for innumerable varieties of creations. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, LEGO sets were added based on popular franchises such as Star Wars, Spongebob Squarepants, Bionicles, Batman, Indiana Jones, and - of course, Harry Potter! Individual boxes are now sold with instructions as to how to build scenes from a movie and/or how to make specific buildings or characters.
Its no wonder these toys are a hit! Take a look at LEGO Harry Potter above. The details are any enthusiast's delight - right down to the scar on his forehead! Many other characters sport wizards' capes. The designs will not chip or wear off easily, either. These are quality items that you can count on lasting a long time.
Harry Potter Lego sets delight young and old like. Anyone that loves the books and movies will enjoy creative play at home.

What Types of Harry Potter Lego Sets are Available?
There are many Harry Potter sets available, in a variety of price ranges and difficulty levels. Although LEGOs may be appropriate for any child over the age of 4 (children younger than age 3 should not play with these toys as they are too small, and may be choking hazards), most specialized box sets are marketed to ages 7 and up because they are not easy to put together without adult assistance. Instructions are always included, with diagrams. If you lose or misplace the instructions, you may obtain replacements at LEGO or Brickfactory.

However, for true excitement, check out the amazing range of Harry Potter LEGO people available at FindMyBrick.com, including Mad Eye Moody with a peg leg, Tom Riddle with a Magic Flute, Professor Karakoff, Professor Quirrell (with two faces!), Professor Trelawney, Dolores Umbridge, and even Deatheaters!

Add Harry Potter Lego Sets to your Collection
The special box sets such as Harry Potter, are great to add to basic LEGO collections. It is easy to buy original blocks by the pound on eBay for between $7 and $20 per pound (plus shipping). At our house, we store all the "regular blocks" in one large plastic bin that slides under my son's bed. We then have separate storage bins for LEGO Batman, Indiana Jones and Harry Potter, respectively. Of course, we keep the instructions in the bins with each of the sets, as well. Sometimes the kids follow them, and other times, they simply get creative with their own imaginations!
Harry Potter and Han Solo have been friends, you know. And Indiana Jones has ridden on Buckbeak. Why keep the characters apart? I crack up at the stories my children come up with! And lest you think they are alone in their silliness, check out some of the blended LEGO character stories showing now on YouTube! Each of the specialty sets fits with all others, including original LEGO blocks.
Probably the best thing to remember when purchasing these toys is that there is no right or wrong way to play with them! Sure, there are instructions to put the castle together, or to make Hagrid's Hut, etc., but the blocks all interlock together, and there are so many other combinations that can be made. Allow your children the freedom to express their creativity through new and different combinations, and the characters may even enjoy a whole new adventure beyond the pages of Rowling's books!
Harry Potter LEGO Spoof
Harry Potter Lego Video Games
Is there a video game like LEGO Indiana Jones and Star Wars? Yes and no. You can purchase the game shown to the right through Amazon.com for $10 less than the Indiana Jones game right now. It is reviewed with 4 out of 5 stars, but several words of caution. It only plays on your PC, and is not available for other gaming platforms. In addition, the game has been discontinued. That being said, the children that have reviewed it generally love the game, which is based on the second year at Hogwarts school. Quidditch practice and games are involved, and Harry and his friends must go through the school collecting frogs! Some say that it is slower than the other LEGO video games, but that may be a blessing for some children.
LEGOLAND Theme Park
Harry Potter may be a wizard, but nothing is more magical than the wonder of an entire theme park devoted to LEGOs! LEGOLAND exists in four locations around the world, Southern California, Denmark, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Much like Disneyland, this theme park is organized into unique neighborhoods where you can explore a "Land of Adventure," "Dino Island," "Fun Town," "Pirate Shores," "Castle Hill" and "Miniland," among other areas. Of course, there are rides for the kids, as well as entertaining shows. Amazing LEGO creations everywhere you look.
Don't go looking for a specific Harry Potter ride or neighborhood at the park. But you will find a wonderful Potter and Hagrid creation at the California LEGOLAND, as of the date of this publication (see the photo below). In addition, you can feed your desire to add to your HP collection at the premier LEGO store on your way out. If you can't find what you are looking for, there are endless resources at some of the online sites cited in this article, including lego.com. Major stores such as Amazon.com and Target usually have a vast selection of the popular blocks, as well.
Just as J.K. Rowling's books know no boundaries with respect to age, these colorful, durable blocks are fun for everyone from ages 4 to 84. I guarantee that once you open one of these boxes up, you too will be "spellbound" for hours!

fantastic Hub I must show my son this he wraped with all this Harry potter lego .
This is a great Hub. Fantastic information about this series of Legos for children. Harry Potter is so popular, I just know these Legos are going to be hot and probably hard to get our hands on. What do you think?
Write On!
again you amaze me!
Steph,
Wow, just when I thought that there could be no more information on Legos, you came along and educated us further on these wonderful toys for children! The antics of Harry Potter, created by J.K. Rowlins were sure to make it into the Lego scene, but I was not aware of the vast selection and to the great degree that they have done it! I guess the Lego logo and Harry Potter is a winning team!
How cool are these Harry Potter LEGOs? Honestly Steph, I am so looking forward to taking my grandkids to LEGOLAND on Saturday, as I said on your other Hub and checking out all the new and different kinds of LEGOs that are available for kids now.
All of the adults, are just as excited to go as well. My kids grew up on LEGOs and we still have boxes of them that now their own children play with. LEGOs are a real winner with adults and children alike.
As I said earlier, I am so hoping that we will get to see some cool displays of both the new Indiana Jones LEGOs and now these awesome Harry Potter LEGOs at LEGOLAND this weekend!
My grandkids are going to think I am the coolest Nana, since I will know what is hot in LEGOs. Great timing for me:-)

I wish I was a child again... wait, I´m still a child! LOL
I think I´m going to start buying them for my young daughter (I can´t find a better excuse). Great hub ;)
Steph, this is so cool! I can't wait for my daughter to get home from school so she can see this (she collects all things Potter). She is going to love the Hogwarts Castle! I can't beleive I haven't seen it anywhere before. Thanks for another great Lego hub!
I love the idea of Harry Potter making friends with other super heros! And why not? Perhaps Lego should recognize this and bring out a 'mixed set' although the children would probably think it uncool! Super hub as usual.
Stephanie, your LEGO hubs about Indiana Jones and Harry Potter represent a direct security threat to the financial resources of my poor little black wallet. You know very well, that I almost couldn't say NO to the LEGO land product, yet there are more and more LEGO blocks of different fashionable styles coming to the market. Anyway, thank you for sending me to the my toy shop at Regent Street (by the way, my shopping day is Saturday).
haha steph, tag often?
This is really great, Harry potter has certainly made it in all sorts of places. Thanks for sharing
My love for legos is renewed! Can it get any better then HP LEGOS?! NO I SAY!!
Great hub!
Very well written, I enjoyed reading this article.
Wow I learned more about lego and a bit more about Harry Potter in the last few minutes than ever before. I think I might just have to tell my granddaughters about this. My one grandaughter is particularly fond of Harry Potter. Something tells me that Christmas this year could be an expensive one!
I've always thought Legos were great - still do. Fun hub. The Lego Hagrid is impressive!
you sure got the market on lego hubs. very detailed and nicely laid out. How long did it take you to do this?
My kids used to worship Legos when they were younger. I remember when we made a trip to Disneyland many years back, that one of my sons was furious that we went into the park before going to the Lego store. LOL.
Also, as a new hubber, I have to admit on a technical and cashflow angle, your hub is very informative outside of the writing. I learned quite a bit from reading it and watching the dynamics at work in the comments section too. The light slowly begins to shine. This is good work on many levels as I see it. Nice job.
My boys love Legos. It would be great to go to Lego Land sometime. I used to paly with Legos all of the time. Unfortunately when I got older and moved I gave my Legos away. I obvioulsy have regretted it since.
Nice hub, Steph! I don't have children, but I'm gonna buy a few sets for myself :-)
Hi Steph, a very interesting and informative hub. I will add that to my wishlist...someday I could visit LEGO land for a trip. As for lego toys, I better check if they are available in our department or toy stores. Thanks :)
i really want to get a harry potter lego set!!!
Very Good
It's just amazing how legos have grown into all kinds of different catagories. Lots of fun.
If I ever came home with Harry Potter legos, my brother would probably attempt to exorcise me from the HP devil... I sure do love legos though, always have. I'd probably have to hide them in my underwear drawer - so at least if someone finds out I have legos, I'd know they were snooping where they shouldn't be.
Lego videos are the best! I Love it!
I didn't know there was so much to know about Harry Potter Lego. I think the castle looks great. Lego is so much better than most playsets as you get to build it and then play with it - a 2 in 1 toy - excellent.
harry potter is coolAS!
I'm way past my childhood... ok, maybe I'm on my 2nd one, but I have numerous Harry Potter Lego sets. Why? It's fun, calming, imaginative, and when I'm feeling down, nothing gets me up again like messing with Harry & the gang in their Lego form. Honestly, the Potter Lego sets are like colorful bits of happiness.
I really love everything Harry Potter! Have you heard about the new Harry Potter Theme Park in Orlando? We are going to travel there later this year.
This is a really cool lens
I am an adult and I still love LEGO, its one of my favourite toy. Legos are amazing and if you can be a bit creative then you can have ours of fun building something amazing. Harry Potter and Star Wars Legos are very popular and its a hot toy to buy on eBay. Thanks.
I LOVE LEGO HARRY POTTER EVERYTHING WOOHOO>
I LOVE Harry Potter! Best storys and movies ever! I also LOVE lego so this article all fits for me. I LOVE THIS ARTICLE!
