Stainless Microwaves
73In the mood for a home remodeling project? If you are considering a quick facelift for the kitchen, new appliances are the way to go. Sleek, modern and energy-efficient, a new stainless microwave could zap the life back into one of the most highly-used rooms.
When you upgrade, you may actually save money in the long run. Energy Star appliances sip electricity compared to their older counterparts. And, state and federal rebates could result in extra savings at tax time. If you are investing a few hundred dollars, you may be able to recoup your investment within 12-24 months!
But before you rush over to the hardware store, let's review the common features of the variety of stainless steel ovens on the market. After all, its not all about looks. If you are going for a high-performance kitchen, you'll want an appliance that can really cook!
When considering a stainless steel microwave oven, there are a number of factors to keep in mind:
- Cost
- Reliability
- Warranties
- Appearance
- Efficiency
- Size

Stainless Steel Microwave Reviews
Before you start shopping for a stainless microwave, it helps to have an idea of the best products on the market. For this, a reliable review is key.
In this Hub, we'll review several microwave ovens.
First up, is the GE Profile JES2251SJSS microwave. This oven uses inverter technology, which delivers continuous mid-level cooking power rather than cycling power levels. This allows food to cook more evenly, as well as resulting in better defrosting and reheating functions. My favorite feature is the ability to soften butter and ice cream without it turning into a runny mess!
The stainless steel GE Profile microwave has 2.2 cubic feet of interior space and includes a 16-inch turntable. The price is just over $200.
Next, is the Sharp R-426LS. This stainless oven is perfect for elegant, sleek kitchens. Its one of the best looking microwaves on the market. And, it scores high marks in reviews. The Sharp microwave's black… and
stainless-steel door conceals its control panel, which gives the
front a smooth appearance. Smaller than the GE microwave, this one has 1.4-cubic-feet, with sensor controls, one-push buttons for common items and a 30-minute keep-warm feature. This oven is a real bargain at about $120!
Now, let's take a look at the Kenmore Elite 80829. The 1.7-cubic-foot, 30-inch wide microwave/convection oven is exceptionally durable and worth its higher price than other options (it will set you back around $550). When using the convection function, you'll be able to enjoy truly browned and delicious-looking food, including the difficult to cook pizza and chicken.
Finally, we'll review the LG LMVH1750ST. Like the Kenmore Elite, the LG is a combination convection/microwave oven. It performs well in professional tests and is installed over the range. It has a similar price range as the Kenmore, as well. It could just come down to your personal preference with respect to looks and brand.

Where Should You Buy a Stainless Microwave Oven?
Now that you have an idea of some of the features in a stainless microwave oven, you'll want to know where to buy one. As with most home improvement projects, it can pay to shop around.
When we shop for appliances, we'll often go to several home improvement and hardware stores (from Sears to Home Depot to Ace Hardware). Watch for coupons or other special offers, such as free shipping or installation. It can also help to browse design magazines to get an idea of what your new microwave might look like installed. You may just get inspired to completely gut and remodel your kitchen!
Once we have seen one or two models that interest us, we'll head to the Internet and do some additional comparison shopping. Bargains can often be found at eBay, Amazon and even Overstock.com. Add in free or discounted shipping and I'm sold!
A few hundred dollars (or less) could be a relatively small investment to make a big impact in your kitchen. Stainless steel finish on your microwave oven - and other kitchen appliances - can mean the difference between a room that looks updated and modern and one that's tired.

The LTM-9000 microwave has really cool features with toaster and all. Something to think about when getting a new microwave.Thanks.
I love my stainless steel microwave. Good advice.
I found this hub interesting, in part, because I will likely be in the market for a new microwave soon. Not that there's anything wrong with my current one, but I'm looking at putting one in that has a hood vent attached since I don't currently have a hood vent over the stove.
Stainless would work, with a hood vent of course, and I'm sure there are some of these models that offer a version, since I have black and stainless appliances.
Thanks for the info.
Very helpful hub. One of these days we will buy another one. Your information was very helpful. God Bless You.
